Q: What type of material can be treated?

A: All types of metal can be powder coated as long as the metal is properly treated by a professional. Besides outdoor furniture, car parts, motorcycle parts and bicycles can also be powder coated.

Q: What is the difference between coating, paint, stain or water seal?

A: Powder coating is a baked on finish cured in an oven. After powder is electrostatically applied, the item is heated to approximately 400-degrees for certain periods of time depending on powder color and texture (the powder’s granular size). Paint, stain and water seal need to be reapplied for maintenance. People are tired of painting furniture. Powder coating eliminates the hassle of touch-up painting and refurbishing.

Q: I don’t want to lose the color of my furniture. Can the coating match the color of the furniture?

A: Yes. There are many colors from the standard primary to fluorescents. You don’t have the original color of your furniture with powder coating.

Q: How long will it extend the life of the furniture?

A: This is difficult to say, but it can last forever.

Q: Can this process only be done to new furniture? Or can I treat my weathered furniture?

A: Any metal furniture, old or new, can be treated, and the only other factor is how much repair one is willing to have done to restore an item.

Q: Is this done onsite or do I have to drop my furniture off? How long does it take?

A: Since it’s oven-cured at high temperatures, it has to be done in our facility. The length of depends on our workload. The average time an item stays at our shop is a week.

Q: What is the coating made out of and is it safe?

A: Most powders are polyester based, and there are no hazards. Since the coating is baked on in our shop, the customer will never experience the powder is the raw form.

Q: Is it similar to anything that can be found at a store?

A: As a coating, no. Many items are now commercially powder coated before you purchase them.
